Games and Play

Games and Play workshop is a 5-day workshop that aims to increase the overall quality of the work done by non formal educators in the youth field; through developing game and play design skills in general and exploring the use of the skill in educational materials design.

As each workshop has a thematic focus; the workshop also has sessions on learning more about the topic. 

In line with the overall objective, the specific objectives of this Workshop are:

 

  • To become acquainted with the design process of games and play activities,

  • To gain a theoretical overview of different types of games,

  • To practice developing an educational game or a playful activity,

  • To explore the potential and limitations of play in youth work,

  • To reflect on the educational role of games in contexts where language creates a barrier,

  • To increase abilities in “designing meaningful play experiences”,

  • To get information and share practices on the theme,

  • To reflect on individual learning processes and support the Youthpass process.

Target group:

Non-formal educators in the youth field, the trainers’ affiliated with the various National Agencies of the Erasmus+ Programme and SALTO Centres, the members of the trainers’ pool of the Council of Europe’s Youth Department.

Format:

The Games and Play workshop can be run on its own. It can also be run as a part of a long term learning process and can be linked with other workshops available in Insightrainer Creatrainer modules as well as the Product Jam.
